- A.R. Ammons98◆ Where but in the very asshole of comedown is redemption: as where but brought low, where but in the grief of failure, loss, error do we discern the savage afflictions that turn us around: where but in the arrangements love crawls us through
- A.R. Ammons98◆ There's a certain amount of ambiguity in my background, what with intermarriages and conversions, but under various readings of three codes which I don't much respect (Mosaic Law, the Nuremberg Laws, and the Israeli Law of Return) I do qualify as a member of the tribe, and any denial of that in my family has ceased with me. But I would not remove myself to Israel if it meant the continuing expropriation of another people, and if anti-Jewish fascism comes again to the Christian world—or more probably comes at us via the Muslim world—I already consider it an obligation to resist it wherever I live. I would detest myself if I fled from it in any direction. Leo Strauss was right. The Jews will not be 'saved' or 'redeemed.' (Cheer up: neither will anyone else.) They/we will always be in exile whether they are in the greater Jerusalem area or not, and this in some ways is as it should be. They are, or we are, as a friend of Victor Klemperer's once put it to him in a very dark time, condemned and privileged to be 'a seismic people.' A critical register of the general health of civilization is the status of 'the Jewish question.' No insurance policy has ever been devised that can or will cover this risk.
- Christopher Hitchens98◆ It was only by faith in Christ that they could secure pardon of sin and receive strength to obey God's law. They must cease to rely upon their own efforts for salvation, they must trust wholly in the merits of the promised Saviour, if they would be accepted of God.
- Ellen G. White98◆ Everyone has ups and downs but I feel like my entire life has been one low point followed by another. I'm tired of coming to a crossroads and finding one road to be redemption and the other damnation and being unable to walk on either until I'm deemed ready or dead. I was consumed by the pursuit of myself; the best travels are thought to be inward but they're easy to get lost in. You might catch yourself unwilling to change. I have to dredge open past wounds I can no longer keep buried. In this embrace, the blinding light reminds me of the outside world. A world I'd forgotten about and didn't want to contemplate. It's time to move on and forget about who I was and start venturing towards who I am.
- Bruce Crown98◆ Never give a person a piece of your mind when all you really wanted to do was give them a piece of your heart.
- Shannon L. Alder98◆ The good part about having a mental disorder is having a valid reason for all the stupid things we do because of a damaged prefrontal cortex. However, the best part is seeing someone completely sane do the exact same things, without a valid excuse. This is the great equalizer of God and his little gift for all us crazy people to enjoy.
- Shannon L. Alder98◆ Never sever ties with a family member you once loved. Each of you might be on different spiritual paths, but both trails are leading you home.
- Shannon L. Alder98◆ I was angry at myself for my inclination to vice. I longed for the day when a state of frenzy would lead my mind to sober pasture, just as it had for Saint Augustine. I longed for the day when the love of one woman would be sacred enough to forget all the rest.
- Roman Payne98◆ When you look at the past without God's eyes, you subject yourself to deception. The past no longer exists and God doesn't linger there. However, Satan will show you whatever you want to see and believe, so you will be trapped in an emotion that cannot communicate truth, beyond what you want to remember.
- Shannon L. Alder98◆ I will look at the past, but I will not stare at it.
- M. Spio98◆ I once believed soft, warm, beautiful things could never flourish in an environment of hard concrete and cold, dark bricks.
- Tom Winton98◆ All roads out of hell lead home.
- Shannon L. Alder98◆ Are we always our mistakes? Does anything we do heal them?
- Alexandra Duncan98◆ This is the worst thing about poisons and deadly sins - that we enjoy them.
- R.W. Schmidt98
